I'm not sure if this is goodbye forever, or just a long vacation from tBLOG. I must admit that it has been quite a disappointment lately - what gives? It just seems like everybody is gone. Ok, everybody I was used to blogging doesn't seem to update their blogs hardly ever anymore.
Well, if anyone has any good reasons why people shouldn't leave tBLOG, perhaps you'd like to share them.
'Til next time (whenever that will be), take care.
I'm not sure why I titled this blog "Good Friday." It's too early to tell if it's good or not LOL
Oh, I know what I was going to blog about: the rising cost of gas. Isn't it awful?? I made sure I filled up yesterday morning because I thought to myself, "Those assholes will see Good Friday as that indeed: a GOOD Friday to raise the cost of gas a little more." Goodness, I was right! GRRRR! I paid $1.65 yesterday morning for the 87 octane gas, and when I went by this morning, it was $1.74. What gives?? What really gets me, is that the price can go up 10 cents a gallon in one day, but when the price starts going down, it's only in 1 cent intervals! Seems to me like they should lower it as much as they raise it, ya know? I realize gas is higher on the coasts (and I saw this firsthand when I was in California), so I'm not complaining too much about the cost where I live, but it's just the principle. I realize in some states you can lose your license if you drive off without paying for your gas, but really, I do think there are people who need it, but can't afford it. So what do we say to them, "Oh well, tough shit?"
On a lighter note (lol)....How 'bout the first day of testimony in front of the 9-11 Commission by Condolizzard Rice?? Man, they really grilled her, didn't they?! lol I can't wait 'til Bush has to testify - they'll really grill his dumb ass too!
Whoever thought they'd see Bob Dylan in a Victoria's Secret commercial?? I was watching a little bit of TV the other night, and right as I was getting ready to flick it off, I happened to see what I thought was Bob Dylan in a VS commercial - it was his music, no less, but I think he personally was in the commercial as well. Lucky him! What will the next celebrity endorsement be? Bill Clinton endorsing Spray 'N Wash??
On a side note....my friend at work who died last year - I found out yesterday that her son had a wrongful death lawsuit filed against him. The person who filed the suit was his own DAD. True, J's son was driving the car when the accident happened, but why can't Tom just leave it at that: an accident. Why go through with filing a lawsuit against your own kid? It makes me very sad for J's son....and I know that J herself wouldn't be happy with this.
I have a feeling I'm about to step up on my soapbox, so you have been warned LOL :-)
I have been parking in a closed garage where I work, for a little over a year now (I guess after 4 years, I was tired of parking in an outdoor lot LOL). For the most part, the garage is pretty nice, but it's an old building. The company who runs it, also opens it up when there are events here downtown, and charge people to park there. Apparently, there was something down here last night, and our garage was opened up for public parking. When I arrived at work this morning, there was a shitload of bottles and beer cans on the floor. There's a trashcan in plain view, so why the heck are people too lazy to utilize it??
I walk through an outdoor parking lot on my way up to the building, and there were even more beer bottles and beer cans. Some had even been knocked over, and were broken....some unsuspecting driver will pick up a piece or two of glass, and end up with a nice flat tire.
I don't want to sound all perfect, because I'm not, but if I eat or drink something in my car, I wait to throw it away until I get home, or wherever I'm going. I think it's incredibly rude to just leave your trash laying around for people to: a) clean up; b) step in/on; c) just leave it and hope it magically disappears.
Well my new iPod arrived last night, and let's just say that we are getting along just great so far! I can't get over how easy it is to use! Very user friendly :) So far, I only have 28 songs, but I'm sure I can fill it up with the maximum of 3,700 LOL I'll be jamming at work now, for sure!
If anyone is looking to get an MP3 player for work, or if you're just always on the go, I'd highly suggest an iPod. You get a lot of bang for your buck! :-)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Jackson County prosecutors charged a Kansas City man with attempting to rape an 81-year-old Alzheimer's patient at a nursing home over the weekend.
Larry Walker, 49, is charged with one count of attempted rape.
Police were called to Myers Nursing Home and Convalescent Center in the 2300 block of Walrond Avenue Saturday. A nurses aide told officers that she went into the victim's room to get a pad from a cart she left in the doorway and noticed the door was closed. When she opened the door, she claims that she saw Walker on top of the victim.
Walker, who is also a patient at the nursing home, denied that he had been in the victim's room at the time the incident occurred. He also told police his prostate cancer prevented him from performing such an act.
However, prosecutors said Walker's ability to perform sexually wouldn't necessarily factor into the case.
"There's no requirement an act be completed, just that an attempt be made. And that's what he's charged with," said Ted Hunt, with the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office.
Walker has a previous rape conviction from 1971.
The victim did not remember much about the incident, but did say she was scared. Sources said she is doing well.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will investigate the allegations.
It just amazes me at how sick people can be :(
Here's a question: what should his punishment be? a) a slap on the wrist b) psychiatric counseling c) serious jail time d) having his pee-pee whacked off
I must admit one of the cool things about getting older, is all the techie toys you can buy LOL When I was a kid, I thought that toys were IT, and that if I grew up, I'd never be able to have anymore toys. What was your favorite toy when you were a child? Mine had to be my Speak 'N Spell. Do you remember those? The movie E.T. really boosted their popularity.
I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new iPod! I have been wanting one since they first came out, and I just decided to take the plunge and get one of my very own :) I can hardly wait 'til it gets here!
Isn't it nice that grown-ups have toys of their own?? :)
I can't believe someone is actually trying to sue the government and change the Pledge of Allegiance, just because it says "Under God." I'm sorry, but that's just a bit ridiculous!
The Pledge of Allegiance has been around for over 100 years, so why change it, just because one person finds those words to be offensive to his daughter? She doesn't have to participate - nobody's making her! I'd like to have a dollar for each time we stood up to do the Pledge while in school; I never met one person who had a problem with saying those words.
I just have one thing to say to the man who's started all of this: "Get over yourself!"
I'm sorry, but I needed to vent at how incredibly stupid this guy is LOL
I'm finally back home in KC! I can't believe how much work was waiting for me when I got to the office this morning :-( I'm up to my eyeballs in work, for a while. I tell you, this will be the last time I take a week's vacation for a long time!
My birthday is Friday...can't believe it's almost here, you know? Oh well, I'll make the most of it!
Anyway, just wanted to update my blog, and say that I was back home. Hope to write more later!
Well, today is my last full day in California. My flight leaves tomorrow morning around 11:25...I must admit that I've had a lot of fun, but it will be nice getting back home. You never appreciate what you have 'til you have to be away from it for a while. It will feel weird driving my car again LOL I haven't driven for an entire week! :-) I will have so much laundry to do when I get home! lol
I think this trip has been good for me mentally and physically. I think we all need a chance to get away and clear our mind, you know? I have swam so much since I've been here, and my body has felt GREAT! I was telling my mom this morning that if I lived here, I'd have the body of a Goddess, because there's just so much to do LOL And since the food isn't that good, you wouldn't eat very much (plus, it's more expensive!)
I mentioned a while back getting to see my cousin that lives with her girlfriend. Actually, I was worried about not getting to see them. Well, they stopped by on their way back from Palm Springs, and it was just great! My cousin doesn't look good, because she's lost so much weight - more anorexic looking, really. She's always been thin, but this job she just left, she was working over 80 hours a week, and was forgetting to eat. I tell you, when I first saw her, I just about cried because she looked so thin. She told me she was starting a new job this week, and hopefully wouldn't be working as many hours. Getting to meet her g/f, Beth, was great also! She seemed so nice. They surprised me when they got here: they went to San Francisco a couple of weekends ago to get married - before California changes it's mind and bans gay marriages for good. I thought it was so cool! :-) Towards the end of April, Lauren (my cousin) is going to have some of her eggs removed, and have them fertilized - then implant the eggs into Beth, so they can have a baby. Isn't that just amazing?! :-) I may go visit them at their house in San Diego, in July :-)
Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend! I will return back to tBlog, hopefully, on Monday. 'Til then, take care, and I'll talk to you later!
I know that freedom of speech is something we all value in this country, but why the heck did newstalk radio have to be invented?? Better yet, why did sportstalk radio have to be invented? Ever get into someone's car, and all they have on their radio is the station where all they do is TALK?? And all they talk about are all the local shitty sports teams?? Grrrr! God forbid you even look down at the radio, wanting to switch the station - you might lose a finger or two!
Is it really possible that some people just don't have a life, so all they do is sit around all day, eating bon-bons, listening to people gawk on the radio all day long?? lol So annoying!
Well, I'm in California at the moment, soaking up the warm sun! It has been an awesome trip so far, but I must admit that I'm ready to get back to KC. I have appreciated it a lot more since I've been here. It's cleaner, for one thing LOL The traffic out here is awful, so I'm not going to complain about KC traffic as much from now on. Everything out here is SO expensive!
We have been to Venice Beach, Hollywood, and Universal Studios. Hollywood was great because we got to see Grauman's Chinese Theater, the Walk of Fame, and Hollywood High School. I have taken several pics, and I hope they turn out alright. Took lots of pics at Universal Studios - especially when it was time to see Jaws (lol)
The weather has been warm, but it cools down quite a bit at night. At this moment, it's a warm 94 degrees, but it doesn't feel that warm. There's no humidity, that's probably why LOL
Well, I just wanted to update my blog, and catch up on everyone else's blogs. Hope you are all doing great! Talk to you later!
I don't leave for CA for 2 more days, but I will be offline the next couple of days, so I thought I'd go ahead and stop by to say "Bon Voyage!"
It has been nuts at the office, working lots of overtime, trying to get as much work done before I leave. Since at the moment, I'm the only one who can map, no one will be able to map for me while I'm gone lol Oh well, they are going to help as much as possible, so that's good. I can't believe I'm taking an entire weeks vacation! This is something that in 6 years of service with the company, I've never done LOL I usually take my days here and there, so taking a full week will feel pretty weird LOL
I'm getting my hair colored tomorrow, so I don't show up in CA with a bunch of gray hair LOL
My flight leaves KC Friday morning around 10 (my mom has all the flight information, not me LOL); from there, we go to Denver, and then to Burbank. All in all, it will be about 4 hours of airtime, so that's not too bad.
I will be thinking of each and every one of you while I'm gone! I will be sending you all a postcard in my mind, wishing you could be sharing in the fun and excitement with me! I will miss being here, but trust me, I will have plenty of pics and stories to share when I get back!
I don't arrive back in KC until March 20th....SO until then, I hope everyone has a great weekend, and upcoming week!
I have always been a big fan of Elvis! Yeah I know, sounds cheesy! lol I have always thought he was sexy, and had a great voice!
I have also been a fan of Rolling Stone magazine; I took a subscription for this first time several months ago. It appears that for a price, you can buy back issues. One of the issues of RS I've always wanted to get was the tribute issue to Elvis Presley.
This past weekend, I took a brief roadtrip to Nebraska. On the way back, I stopped by a flea market to kill some time. While there, I began sorting through several old Time magazines, along with some old newspapers. To my surprise, the old newspapers were about the death of Elvis, and some were even old tabloids about his death. Imagine my surprise when I picked up a newspaper only to see the following on the cover page: "Elvis Presley dies at age 42." Holy crap! I keep looking, and eventually, I hit the jackpot: the issue of RS I'm looking for is within my reach! It almost seems too good to be true! I dread looking at the price tag...it says $32.50. Not too shabby! I decide that this magazine is going home with me, so I take it up to the cashier to pay for it. That must have been my lucky day, because as the lady was writing out the receipt, she knocked off some of the price. I only spent $26.50! I thought this was a small price to pay for a magazine I've always wanted :-)
This will probably remind you of the jokes that go something like this: "How many drunks does it take to change a lightbulb?" Or, "How many blondes does it take to change a lightbulb?" I'm not fond of changing lightbulbs, personally; mostly because I've just about fallen each time I've attempted this task.
Last night, as I went to the restroom to brush my teeth before going to bed, I switched on the light, only for it to burn out. I have changed lightbulbs before, but never had to do one in the restroom. It was fun, let me tell ya! First of all, getting a chair in their, around the toilet was the first task. Once I got on to the chair, I realized that it wasn't quite high enough, SO....I had to settle for the old "standing on the side of the tub" bit. We don't have one of those old fashioned claw-foot tubs, but one that's flat on one side, with a little ledge for sitting. It's not very wide either! lol It doesn't help that I wear a size 9 shoe, either LOL So I'm standing on the tub, trying to keep my balance, while unscrewing the light fixture. I had to have help; someone to hold the flashlight, while I tried keeping my balance, unscrewing (lol) The light fixture is old, and it has 3 screws that hold it in place. I swear to you, after fiddling with each one, my arms felt like they were drained of blood - thought I was going to pass out LOL I was afraid I wouldn't get each of the 3 screws back in place, thus resulting in a light fixture falling on a head, while someone was sitting on the toilet. I only managed to get the bulb itself changed - I'm going to re-attempt the light fixture tonight when I get home from work....it was just too much effort after a long day, ya know?
My advice to anyone that has never changed a lightbulb: stick with lamps, if you can! lol
There, that's my senseless, pointless blog for the week. Have a great weekend! :-)
Yes, it's official! I've been voted the "Map Bitch" at work! Perhaps I should explain...
I know I have described the type of work I do, and one of the things I work with on a daily basis, are giant paper, county assessor maps. They are big and hard to handle! lol They have been mounted to posterboard for easy handling, but over the years, the posterboard starts to fray, so needless to say we go through gobs of packaging tape preserving it.
When people want to view our maps, they come over to our mapcases and usually take the map(s) back to their desk. Well when I started here several years ago, there used to be a check-out/check-in system for the maps. You signed your name, wrote down your map number, and then the date, on a sheet. That way, the mapping department knew exactly WHO had WHAT map. We haven't used this check-out/check-in method in years, but guess what? I get to revive it!! lol
You may be asking why we haven't been keeping closer tabs on the maps. Well I too could ask that question, but I couldn't give you an honest answer. I just don't know! I think we've been using the Honor System for too long, and it's finally starting to catch up with us.
I spent the better part of 2 weeks searching for a Jackson County map - it was number 61-340, to be exact. I needed it to draw in a new subdivision called "Fresh Woods Subdivision." I literally searched high and low for this damn map, to no avail! I asked all the examiners, and all of our title plant subscribers - no one had seen this map. SO...it's either been lost, or it has been misfiled. If it's been misfiled, there's no telling where it could be, or when it will finally turn up. I decided to take matters into my own hands and just order an entirely new replacement map for 61-340. It only cost us $5, but that's just it, we had to make an unnecessary expenditure. I was leary of making this purchase because I was afraid the numbers on the new map wouldn't match the numbers on our computer system. It's a gamble I had to take, ya know? I just had to be able to draw in this subdivision, so what the heck, I ordered the new map. At this point, I'm the only one in my department who uses the maps, so I'm the only one who's inconvenienced when the maps are missing, for whatever reason. But when they are missing, part of my job can't be done.
As of today, I'm reviving the check-out/check-in system for the maps. It will work just like going to a library and checking out books, etc. I don't care who takes the maps, but I just want to know where they are in case I need them, you know? Oh, and I already have permission from our boss lady in Minneapolis to do this (lol) I don't understand why people don't know how to file things back in the right spot (if that has happened with the old map). It's not hard to figure out: it would have been in the middle of 61-330 and 61-410. When someone needs a map, they will have to see me or Vannessa (my supervisor), and when they return their map(s), one of us will do it; that way, we can be sure it gets filed back to the right place. I'm totally prepared to get "jiggy wid it" if someone gives us some lip about this new system! lol
Anyway, I just wanted to share with you all the good news of my additional job title! lol
Well, I'm officially an EXTEMELY busy lady at work! It's like a bucket of water with a spicket has just opened, and it's draining work....lol I'm going to start working some overtime to get as much done before my trip. I'd hate to return to even more work, you know? Oh well, more money in my pocket to pay off my computer (lol)
Anybody have some liquor they'd be willing to share???? lol
As some of you know, I work with this really great lady named Deloris. She's 59, married, has two grown kids, and two grandkids. She's been with the company for almost 20 years now, and the two of us have been working together for close to 6 years. We are close friends
Deloris' daughter is married with a son, and D's son just got remarried (I think this was his 3rd trip to the altar, lol) D's son first got married when he was about 17 or 18, as his girlfriend was pregnant. D even told me she almost didn't go to the wedding, as she was mortified that her son was getting married so soon, and under the circumstances (the pregnancy). I'm not sure how long they were married, but they ended up getting divorced; he remarried a few years later, I believe. Well, Joe (D's son) took his 3rd trip to the altar this past October to marry a gal named Brenda. I think Brenda already has one child, but I'm not sure....Anyway, Deloris and I have lunch quite a bit, and we talk quite a bit at work; we've talked about a lot, let me tell ya! lol She came back to work yesterday from a week's vacation, and she came over to see my new work area. In course of conversation, she proceeds to tell me that she became a grandmother again this past weekend. My first response was, "REALLY??" This was a detail that she never mentioned to me. She said (somewhat sarcastically), "Oh yeah, you know Joe and Brenda have only been married since last Fall." Anyway, the baby was a girl, and as D put it, "adorable."
Joe and Brenda got married around Halloween, and I remember D saying that the wedding was going to have a Halloween theme; people showed up in costume (lol) I remember looking at the pictures, and as I looked at the pictures of Joe and Brenda, D never mentioned that she was pregnant; she would have been, if the baby was born this past weekend. Not once did she mention any of this. The times we have gone to lunch, I have asked about the newlyweds, and I have asked about Amber (Joe's daughter from his first marriage). Again, no mention of a pregnancy. Now, I'm not sitting here all hurt because she didn't tell me this, but I'm more shocked than anything. She acted happy about it, but not too happy. I think she's upset that they conceived a child before they were married. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you have to know D. She's very religious, and in her mind, that's just not right. I think she may feel that they got married because they "had to."
SO...what do you think? I think it's incredibly odd she never brought this up to me. Do you think she didn't mention this pregnancy because she was embarrassed?
I write quite a lot, and here's something I wrote for a friend of mine - may she RIP! :-)
"Peach Sorbet"
I sit here each day thinking about All the endless possibilities to feed my addition. The decision to wait has not been easy, And you certainly aren't helping any! I was thinking about something naughty the other day, And it brought a smile to my face. I thought how cool it would be to take a bucket of peaches And set them at your feet. I would reach in, pull one out, and take a bite - Then I'd look at you, and start sucking out the sweet, fresh nectar. I suckled the sweet meat with my lips.... Pretty soon I had juice running down my chin, And before I knew it, you reached out to wipe it off. You took your finger and stuck it in your mouth and began sucking on it. You didn't seem to notice the "goodie" bag on the ground, Nor did you know it's contents. Since no one's around, we don't have to be TOO careful! I reached into the bag and pulled out a small jar of honey - I motion you over to a giant old oak tree, where it's nice and shady. I reach out to kiss you - God I've wanted to for so long! Then I take the half-eaten peach, and begin to drizzle the juice on your lips. Gently, I clean it up with the tip of my tongue, and while doing this, I decide to slide my hand, still sticky, up inside your shirt. I'm reluctant to do so, and I start to pull back - Before my hand moves too far, you grab onto it, And guide it further up inside your shirt. I rely on your hand to guide mine, as I can't seem to get over my shyness. I decide to be bold, and unbutton your blouse - You have the sexiest, lacy bra! I finish devouring the peach, and then I take the honey and start dripping it Right on your beautiful skin. Just a few drips to start with...and with a twinkle in my eye, Began licking it off. The taste is even sweeter against your flesh... I reach around to undo your bra, and it falls right off. Then gently I remove your blouse, and it too falls off. I just want to look at you for a moment... I reach out to put my arms around you, and I can't help but kiss The top of your right shoulder, all while I stroke the skin on your back... Then I have a dose of reality and I can't continue... I feel like a chickenshit all the sudden, and wonder what the hell I'm doing. I'm scared of doing anything else, but I can't explain why. Perhaps the memory of someone from long ago is taunting me..... Will I ever get another chance with you, or have I blown it forever?
I really can't think of anything to blog about (as I've bitched enough the past 2 blogs, lol), so I thought today, I'd just take it easy and "shoot the breeze" a little.
How are you all doing?? Things are going pretty good here....I'm officially a "Busy Lady" at the office, which is a good thing! lol Today is exactly one month away from my birthday...(not that I'm looking forward to it, lol) My trip is getting closer and closer...can't wait to set foot on California soil again :-)
Well, I guess I'll let you all go for now. Hope all is well in your corner of the world. Take care and I'll hopefully have more to blog about tomorrow!
I hope this posting this doesn't get me "voted off the island," as the subject is a bit controversial (lol) But I would like to vent and express my sadness on this...
I cannot believe that George Dumya, I mean, Dubya, Bush would even consider wanting to change the Constitution to forever ban gay marriage. I can't imagine wanting to make such a drastic decision just because people can't help who they fall in love with. It angers me and saddens me at the same time.
I'm not familiar with each and every one of the Amendments, but I can think of several that come to mind that warrant being put into the Constitution. The First Amendment: Free Speech; the amendment allowing the right to bear arms; the amendment abolishing slavery; the amendment allowing blacks the right to vote; the amendment allowing women to vote; the amendment that makes 18 the voting age. There are several I didn't mention, but I only skipped them because I don't know them that well. These are all VERY important issues, and I can see why lawmakers took the time to have these drafted up, and added to the Constitution. But how does gay marriage fit into this?? Why waste time and taxpayer money over something so petty, and something people can't control? Why are we not allowing gays and lesbians the same freedoms as everyone else? Each STATE should have the right to make a stand on this issue, not the Federal government and George Bush.
I can't remember if this is in the Constitution or not, but I do remember these words very well: "We hold these truths to be evident that ALL men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights; among these are life, liberty and the persuit of happiness." It appears that these words only apply to a certain few and not everyone, and it's such a double standard.
I'm really sorry if I have offended anyone by writing these words, but I'm sitting here, practically in tears because this issue seems to be everywhere you turn, and it's such bullshit! It saddens me to think I will never be able to legally marry the person I love, and there doesn't appear to be a damn thing I can do about it.
This will probably seem like a lame post, but I really would like some input (if you can spare some! lol)
My mom has been sorta grating on my nerves lately! It's funny because as I just typed that, I was chuckling, but I'm also a little unnerved at the situation I'm about to tell you about.
Mom comes from a big family; she's one of 6 kids. There are 3 boys, and 3 girls. Anyway, back to the story...Her oldest brother, Phil, works for General Motors (his wife works there also), and has been there for several years. My grandpa retired from GM about 15 years ago. My uncle Phil is a nice guy, but lately, my mom has been cramming Phil's accomplishments down my throat here recently. Yes, even though GM employees get paid really well (even when they get laid off), my uncle isn't a rich man. He and his wife live in a modest 2 story house in the country (north of Kansas City). Really, it's nothing fancy! He's always had nice cars - Trans Am's, Firebirds, etc. Phil and his wife bought a new 2003 Cadillac Escalade this past summer. Mom made sure she pointed out that this car listed for $67K, but they paid $40K for it (like it really matters, that's still too much money for a car, lol)
OK...this past weekend, she and I went some place, and at one point in the conversation, she just HAD to tell me about uncle Phil's car again, but this time, she had to point out that the wheels on the Escalade ALONE cost $7K, and that this damn thing has a custom grille on the front. She also just HAD to mention that here recently, GM required it's employees to work on a Saturday, and that Phil made $800 just working that one day. Oh, and for the Super Bowl, I went to mom and dad's for their annual taco party. Well every year, everybody plays this game where you have to pay so much money for squares on a sheet of paper; each square represents how many points are scored per quarter. We play this game for cheap, and only charge 25 cents per square. Of course, mom had to make a comment about Phil, and she was like, "Well, Phil's playing in a game like this, but he has to pay $100 per square." I really wanted to say, "Who gives a flying f**k??"
I'm not one to piss on someone's accomplishments - honest. But it just seems like my mom has to always rub my face in my uncle's money. I'd really like to tell my mom, "You know mom, you have another daughter that you don't speak to, and she and her husband own a half million dollar home, but you don't see me rubbing YOUR face in it, do you??"
How can I tell my mom this bugs me without her being offended?? We're getting ready to travel to California together, and I don't want us to go out there, not speaking to each other, you know?
Am I making something out of nothing?? You can tell me to get over it, and even though I may not like hearing that, you'd probably be right! (lol)
When I was a kid, I used to be allergic to Tide laundry detergent, and I also used to break out in rashes whenever I wore red clothes that weren't laundered after being purchased. I think I have grown out of the Tide allergy, but I still don't think red clothes are nice to me right off the shelf.
I went out this past weekend to pick up a few new items of clothing for my upcoming trip to California. I managed to find a big section of clothing 75% off, and some of the racks featured Tommy Hilfiger clothing. I found this really cool dark red, long sleeved shirt that buttons down the middle. I look at the price tag, and find that it's final markdown price is $16 - not too shabby for a Tommy Hilfiger shirt! I'm thrilled at such a deal, so I purchase the shirt (along with a few other items), and take them all home with me. I start cutting off the tags (after trying them on, of course! lol), and I decide to wear the new red Tommy shirt out yesterday.
After a few hours, something strange starts to happen - I start to feel something digging into my neck. So I find a mirror, and oh my goodness, you can't believe the red mark that's on my neck! Apparently the fabric was not only red (and unwashed), but scratchy against my skin; it left a red welt that resembled a big hicky (lol) Even after I get home and take the shirt off, the red mark remains. It's even sore :( Even this morning, I'm walking around with a red welt on my neck...I'm sure people are looking at me like, "I know what SHE did this weekend!" lol
Just goes to show that you should never assume that allergies just "go away." And here's a bit of advice for you: when you purchase new clothes, try them on, and if they fit, make sure you launder them BEFORE you wear them.
